Art's diary, September 2000

Sunday September 17, 2000

Oh look, I'm jumping on the web diary ego-w**k bandwagon. I make no guarantees about interestingness or gossip content, bla bla, but I have a feeling I could find it useful when finals get too close even for denial to work.

Just less than a week until I'm back in Oxford. I seem to spend quite a lot of the time here looking forward to getting back to Oxford, and a lot of the time in Oxford waiting for the vac. Different sets of things to escape and different things to get back to, I suppose.

Still trying to delude myself that I'm going over past papers. It's a little bit better than nothing, but not much.

Tasks for next week: fix the Morris brakes, and figure out a way to smuggle my Mac Plus back to Oxford. Bwahaha.

Still nothing even remotely interesting happening (surprise). I went to a Greek restaurant with parents and guest this evening. I'd write things about the food, except that it was mostly German :-)

Found myself trying to defend the existence of a Sainsbury's trolley in the corridor of the Mitre. Hmm...

Stocked up on some essential provisions for Oxford - a crate of Leimener Hobräu Export, and a box of wine. Still to get are crisps and chocolate.

I could write about other people's more eventful lives, I suppose. But somehow I'd rather have boringness at the moment, as the following prove:

Family friends were mugged at gunpoint in Savanna, Georgia yesterday. Colleague of parents hit an object on the autobahn going at 100+ mph, spun several times and ended up facing the traffic behind them. Fortunately, they were completely unhurt.

Writing this from hack using dialup apparently caused by news download, so I have no idea if/when things are going to break.

Yesterday was cool. Had lunch at Kazbar with floaty. Then later, King's Arms followed by yummy chinese in the Pink Giraffe. Resolved with Kake to do interesting furniture things with my New Room. Finally, were joined by Windle and Al in Port Mahon (I think that's the name... had a cool dog in it, anyway.). Then back to hack. Helped to bake cake at 1.30am, then went to bed. Much drinkiness. Recovering.

Whoops. Let this get a bit out of date. Onward, to October (eek).
