July 200

Friday 20th July, 2001

I should probably put a little bit in here about the Radiohead concert in South Park, Oxford that I went to this month. I have to admit I wasn't really into the support acts (although the local Oxford ones were good). A little while after Thom sang "Come on, rain down on me", the heavens opened in a quite spectacular way. This was the first gig I've been to, and the experience of standing there, listening to my favourite music live, being totally soaked by the warmish rain, is something I'll never forget.

Expect a scan of the rather bedraggled ticket here at some point.

I'm not sure whether this was July or not, but I'll put it in here anyway. Before I disappeared on the barging holiday, Krystyna and I had a go at a portrait photography session. It was a lot of fun - being my first time doing portrait photos - and I'd like to have another go, so keep an eye out for more similar stuff at some point :-).

I suppose I should have kept a diary of the barging holiday, but unfortunately, I didn't manage it. However, there are loads of photos here. It was great fun, a good chance to relax, and I'd definitely like to do it again. The trip was only slightly marred by the fact that I had to leave the barge for 2 days, and go back to Oxford, for a viva.

This leads on to the big news, which I got after returning to Oxford from the barging trip. I didn't do well enough in finals to go on to do a fourth year, project, etc, so now I appear to have finished, with a BA. This leaves me looking for a job, I suppose (at least for a year) - I've still not decided what, though. I'd like it to be in Oxford, considering the number of my friends who are alse staying in Oxford when starting their jobs.

Currently keeping me off the streets is the fact that I've been employed to do a revamp of the EMBL Staff Association website - I'll probably put a link on my Links page when it's ready to go public.
