Diary Index

June 2001

Tuesday 12th June, 2001

Well, after a little pause for taking finals, it's back to the diary. The exams were in such a short space of time (one every morning from Friday to Saturday of last week), that there wasn't that much time to register that my final exams (tm) were happening. Then it was all over, and I came out to have my photo added to my growing collection of photos of people finishing finals.

At risk of over-dramatisation, this is the end of an era(ish), although many of the people who are finishing are staying in Oxford. Those who aren't (Kake moving down to London; glis moving to Brighton) I will miss having as such a close part of my life. I feel I should say something profound here, about chapters of our lives coming to a close, but I can't think of anything. Oh well.

Immediate future holds the barge trip - which will be from the 25th of June until the 5th of July - a good chance to relax and escape from Oxford for a bit. Then, on the 7th, I'm going to a Radiohead concert here in Oxford.

My plans for the summer after that are a little sketchy. A vague idea I had was to drive across america - either in my car flown over there, or in a car I rented/bought there (a vintage 1950s american gas guzzler would be nice), possibly with someone from Oxford. However, I don't know if this is likely to materialise as a plan this summer.

Quote for today, on life:
<Heffalump> the good bits wouldn't be worth anything if there weren't any bad bits.

Finally finished moving all my stuff from my room to Summertown today, and handed in my keys. Most people seem to have disappeared off home now, but I've got one more day to kill until Monday morning, when it's off a-barging I go.
